About Camera Obscura
The Camera Obscura was invented by Nicephore Niepce with the assistance of Louis Jaques Mande Daquerre. The Camera Obscura is a great invention because it was the first camera ever to capture a photograph. But there is a big difference to cameras nowadays to this one. The camera that Nicephore made was like a big box that wasn't a hand held object. Unlike nowadays cameras they are very small and compact. Small enough to put it in your pocket. The images of the camera obscura were ok, the had no sensitivity as it was all brown. So after the photograph was taken, they had to add lavender oil to make it so that the picture would have sensitivity. But it would still be a black and white. Nowadays, the pictures have color and it is a high definition type. You don't need to add effects to the picture. Just print it in color or black and white. It is a faster way than it was over 200 years ago. Anyways the camera obscura was a great way for people to take photos instead of staying still for a long time while an artist is drawing them.
No one knows how the camera was made. Nicephore and Louis probably used other designs and created one of their design. Nicephore and his partner Louis mainly focused on the photograph on how to make it better. But the way how the camera captures an image is known. The way how Nicephore created an image is he let light draw the picture. As light went into the hole of the camera, the light entered the dark camera. No light was in the camera. As the light enters the camera, it is reflecting what it supposed to be drawing onto a thin material. The thing they want the image to be on (like paper) will go against the material. After they got the image, they will add a special type of oil like lavender oil to express the sensitivity of the photograph.
This invention is used for taking pictures of someone, something, or somewhere. This is way better than a artist trying to draw it because it might not be that accurate than the photograph. NIcephore and his partner Louis wanted to make pictures look like what it actually looks like. Not a drawing but a photograph to make pictures of things look exactly what it looks like in real life. But they had no color and success wasn't on their side so they had a hard time trying to achieve what they wanted.
During the invention process, the way how Nicephore came up with the idea is when he was on vacation and it suddenly came into mind. He eventually met up with Louis as he knew how to make the photograph better. If you thought that it was a great time when they worked on it, then you are wrong. Nicephore had very little success out of the amount of time he spent inventing. But the good thing was that they were able to capture an image. They were able to build the camera and create the first photograph. But they had a hard time expressing the sensitivity so they added lavender oil to try to express it. When they worked, they focused at one thing at a time. Louis assisted Niecephore as he worked on the camera and Louis was a great when it came to touch ups to the photograph. They didn't do their own things, they worked as one unit and focused at one thing at a time.
